Pocket Pc Tablets

What’s the point of tablet PC’s?
I understand the smartphone thing, as they fit in your pocket and act as a phone as well, but why are tablets to popular? They’re too big to fit in your pocket and can’t do everything a laptop (or even a netbook) can do.
So whether it the iPad, a Windows tablet, or an Android tablet, what are they really designed to do? For use at home? In schools?
Yes, I realize this is in the laptop forum… Yahoo! needs a tablet forum.
It all depends on your needs. The tablets were originally designed for business use so that employees could carry them around and collect data…like a Census person or a sales person gathering orders.
Then it spawned into personal uses when it was impractical to carry a laptop.
